Uzbekistan lifted the one-certificate-per-year cap on own-use imports
Presidential decree No. 104 of 4 June 2026 (in force 5 June) amends the General Technical Regulation on wheeled-vehicle safety: individuals and legal entities are no longer limited to one compliance certificate per calendar year for vehicles imported for their own needs.
Kun.uz, 6 June 2026: Uzbekistan lifted the rule that capped individuals and legal entities at one vehicle compliance certificate per calendar year for transport imported for personal/own use.
The change is presidential decree No. 104, signed 4 June 2026, in force 5 June 2026. It amends the General Technical Regulation on the Safety of Wheeled Vehicles. The old clause was meant to curb unofficial commercial imports; Kun.uz notes it also blocked genuine fleet and family purchases in the same year.
This is not a duty cut. EV import duty at 0% with VAT still due is a separate customs schedule — confirm the current bracket with a licensed broker. Euro-4 remains the emissions floor for M/N categories.
Desk takeaway: a Tashkent buyer can now certify more than one own-use import in 2026. Commercial importers still need the full VTA path. Do not write “unlimited grey import” on a quote.
