Uzbekistan Jan–Jul 2026: 65,876 imported cars, 46,749 of them electric
National Statistics Committee (via UzDaily, 18 Sep 2026): 65,876 passenger-car imports worth $920.4 million. EVs 46,749; petrol 10,987; hybrids 8,077. China supplied 63,039 units — almost all of the flow.
Uzbekistan’s National Statistics Committee, as reported by UzDaily on 18 September 2026, counted 65,876 imported passenger cars in January–July 2026, customs value USD 920.4 million, from 29 countries.
By powertrain: electric 46,749 (the largest slice), petrol 10,987, hybrids 8,077, other 63. By origin: China 63,039; United States 765; Korea 737; Japan 345; the rest 990. Chinese factories therefore supplied the overwhelming majority of the seven-month import print.
This is import, not UzAuto Motors retail. Chevrolet remains the volume brand in domestic sales (see the Q1 2026 Uzavtosanoat note). Do not treat 46,749 EVs as “all BYD Uzbekistan Factory”.
Desk takeaway: Tashkent demand for Chinese EVs is a customs fact, not a rumour. Certification (VTA + environment) is still a separate Uzbek process from EAEU OTTS.
